Pastor Tim Smith
Tim is the Senior Pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in Boone, NC.

Pastor Tim Smith

Pastor Tim is a native North Carolinian, born in Lenoir and reared there and in Salisbury. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill on a Morehead Scholarship, class of 1982, and then graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg in 1986 and then received his first call in Catawba County, North Carolina. He received the Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University in 1991. He came to Grace in 1993 to serve both as pastor and as Lutheran Campus Pastor until Grace called another full-time pastor to be primarily responsible for campus ministry in 2000.

Pastor Tim has been married to Wendy (Weisner) since 1983. She teaches middle school science and math in Blowing Rock, and they have three grown children-Matt, Isaac, and Ruth.

He sees himself as a conveyor and messenger of God's radical grace, and as one called to "equip the saints" to do the work of ministry in response to God's grace. If he could only share one thing with you, it would be his conviction that you are indeed God's precious child, forgiven, loved beyond all imagining through Jesus Christ. Then the purpose of our lives is to figure out and pursue living out that identity.
