Having grown up in southwestern Virginia, Pastor Sarah is thrilled to be back in the Blue Ridge and excited to have been called to serve Grace and the Appalachian State University community. A graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, Pastor Sarah looks forward to serving her first call in North Carolina.  She is married to Pastor Joseph Bolick-Lang of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Johnson City, TN.

When she’s not working, you may spot Pastor Sarah hiking or biking on one of the many trails in the Boone area. She loves reading and writing and avoids arithmetic as much as possible! Having learned flute and piano as a child, Sarah’s now learning a new instrument, the autoharp. She’s hopeful she’ll be able to play some true mountain music sometime soon.

Pastor Sarah shares, “My passion for ministry is sharing God’s word of promise and hope for a despairing world and pointing people to the primary place where we receive Christ’s presence: in the midst of Sunday worship where the risen Christ meets us in the proclaimed word, in the sacraments, and in our gathered neighbors. What at gift it is to have the opportunity to point folks to the places where God is already working in our lives and in our world and to empower others to faithfully proclaim this good news!”
