Lutheran Students of Appalachian

Grace is proud to host the Lutheran Students of Appalachian (LSA) campus ministry group!

LSA meets every Wednesday at 6:00 PM during the Spring and Fall semesters for a home-cooked dinner and various programming events. Organized and led by student-elected officers and Pastor Sarah Lang, LSA is open to anyone who seeks food, fun, and fellowship.

All Appalachian State students are welcome and invited to attend and participate in the many LSA activites, as well as all the activities of the wider church. We're happy to be a "church away from home" for our students and offer support as best as we are able!

For more information, contact Pastor Sarah at 828-264-2206.

CAMPUS MINISTRY:
KEEPING THE CONNECTION ALIVE

We all know that our church loses many of our young people when they go to college—regardless of how good our church youth programs and parental examples are. Should we care about that? Of course we should! So what can we do about it?
ANSWER: SUPPORT OUR CAMPUS MINISTRY PROGRAMS

  • C...Church community for students away from home
  • A...Active Lutheran outreach & witness on campuses
  • M...Mission trips to serve others
  • P...Providing pastors to our congregations
  • U...Urgent effort to keep the connection alive
  • S...Securing the future of our faith

 How can you help?

  1. Pray. Pray often. Pray with your heart in it. Pray again.
  2. Give your support. Keep campus ministry a high priority for our church.
  3. Volunteer your time/money. Checks payable to the NC Lutheran Synod or your local church should designate “Campus Ministry.”

Curious about how you, as a friend or member of Grace, might become involved in this ministry opportunity? Keep reading!

  • Introduce yourself to students as they worship at Grace on Sundays and first Wednesdays for Holden Evening Prayer. Seek them out and welcome them.
  • Delight in the gifts they share at Grace! Each year, students share their gifts during worship by singing in the choir, playing handbells, reading, praying, and serving as an assisting minister. Affirm their leadership and tell them “thank you!”
  • ADOPT-A-STUDENT! Every year the people of Grace adopt both ASU students and Grace college students studying away from home. Interested in developing a relationship with a young adult or continuing a relationship you’ve already begun? Fill out the form (click here for one) and submit it to Pastor Sarah.
  • Help sponsor students for fundraisers, conferences, and mission trips.
  • Inquire about becoming a member of the Campus Ministry Team—a behind-the-scenes group that envisions, organizes, supports, and serves the needs of Grace’s Campus Ministry.

Already this summer, Grace has received many inquiries from in-coming freshmen about their interest in campus ministry, and they’re excited about coming to Grace! On behalf of the students we serve, thank you for helping make this congregation a true place of grace for so many students. I give thanks for your partnership in the gospel for the sake of our neighbors at Appalachian State.
